In this showcase, these talented artists explore the theme of animals in their art, offering a unique perspective on the profound connection between humanity and the natural world. Through a diverse range of artistic styles and mediums, 'Menagerie, 2024' presents an engaging and thought-provoking collection that delves into the various facets of our relationship with the animal kingdom.

Artist Karen Kitchel, showcases her compelling journey to shed light on overlooked aspects and connections within the American landscape. Kitchel's oil paintings skillfully accumulate fragments to evoke a specific sense of place, where geological landmarks remain elusive. Through subtle shifts and repetitions, her artworks provide a cinematic space for introspection and recollection. In this collection, Kitchel delves into the intricate relationship between native and invasive species, focusing on the troublesome Cheatgrass—an accidental introduction to the U.S. in the 1800s with far-reaching ecological consequences. Her exploration of this invasive species, along with her deep connection to the American West, is a testament to her commitment to examining the complex interplay of land use, climate extremes, and the ever-changing landscape. With paintings featured in esteemed institutions worldwide, Karen Kitchel's profound body of work continues to captivate audiences, offering a unique perspective on the evolving American terrain.

    Artist and educator Marie Bose specializes in one of a kind handmade high-fire tableware, lighting design and sculpture. Marie’s work is an exploration on cultivating and celebrating ritual of the everyday. She has been working with clay for over a decade along the California coast, where the quiet, raw grace of the landscape animates her pieces. Her years spent as both a farmer and a cook inform the simple, elegant forms she crafts in her home and kitchen wares. She weaves a tactile invitation to enjoy the elegance of slowing down and deepen relationship to beauty within these everyday objects.
